I must start by saying this Hotel was clean and tidy enough. For me that is where it ended. On arrival we opted for an upgrade for a room with a view which was a lovely view i may add which cost £10 a night extra. Food was very disappointing considering we were in Italy. You ordered your choice for dinner the night before which was a bit off i thought. Would not have minded if it was good but alas NOT.The sign outside stated it was a 4 star Hotel but i dont think that this was the case.To get into Taormina you had a ten minute walk on a really dangerous road. Not ideal for the elderly or young children. You really had to have your wits about you when walking along.A cable car ride is necessary to get into Taormina which was nice and cost 6 euros return. Taormina is a very beautiful place and has had a lasting impression on me. Next time though i will go for a 5 star Hotel.Better start saving.
We had the most beautiful sea/beach view and were absolutely delighted. The rooms were clean and spacious. Bathroom could do with a spruce, but it was all perfectly good. Breakfast was included and was continental, good choice available and all fresh. They're really strict with people taking food out of the breakfast area with them (!) we saw the owner tell a couple of people off! Reception staff were friendly enough. It's a good location, about 10 minutes walk to the closest beach (and isola Bella), and also to the cable car that takes you into Taormina. We also drove up there one time in the day, and that only took about 20 minutes, nice drive too
Beautiful setting. Good sized rooms by Italian standards, very clean. Dinner by pool, breakfast on breakfast room balcony overlooking the bay. Combination safe. Wifi in Reception area. Airport transfer: either take funicular railway (station near hotel) or taxi to Bus Terminal (or Stop as a taxi driver called it). Buy ticket on day of travel from booth on site. Bus calls at about 5 stops on the way to the airport, including the Train station and Taormina centre. It takes approx. 10 mins for the taxi to arrive at the hotel, approx. 10 mins to drive to the Bus Terminal (on Sunday morning at 08.45) & approx. 90 mins for the bus to get to the Airport). Comment for the hotel: Not everyone is happy to carry expensive I Pods on holiday so it would be really useful if you could provide an internet station for your guests, even if you have to charge a few Euros for the service!
We stayed here for two nights and were pleased with the location and generous breakfast. The staff was friendly and helpful, too. However, it is really not a for star hotel, but more like three plus. The room was clean, but sparse and the extra refrigerator at the foot of the bed was rather strange. It felt dated , but was one of the more reasonably priced hotels and across from the beach and Isola Bella and a short walk to the funicular which takes you up to Taormina.
The only thing going for this place is the VIEW. Everything else is regretable. Rooms, location, food. This is NOT a four star hotel, not even a three, closer to two stars if at all. How do hotels get there rating? Parking is terrible. Only space for about 5-6 SMALL cars and is up a steep ramp. To manuver into the parking and out of the parking is a nightmare. You must reverse with the possiblity of getting into an accident with other parked cars. Rooms are spacious. Hotel need serious updating to truly be classified as a 4 star hotel. Hotel staff are disinterested in the clients and unprofessional. Breakfast is nothing special. Location of Hotel is on a main highway in Mazzaro so you need a car or walk along the highway with a lot of traffic to get anywhere. The cable car that you need to take to the town of Taormina (which is beautiful) is about 600 m. from hotel. The worst of this stay was the lousy attitude, and unprofessionality of the owner/operator of this establishment. Please be advised that if anything happens to you at the hotel while you are there, the hotel DOES NOT take responsibility for anything. YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN. We stayed for four nights. On our first night our friends where recharging their iPhone. The Air Condition Unit leaked on the iPhone and damaged it with no repair. The incident was reported to the front desk, maintance went to check the leaky AC unit and see the puddle of water. The owner was called to see about reporting it to the hotel insurance for replacement and to check out the puddle of water on the floor for the leaky AC unit. He advised that he would advise hotel insurance. On the forth day when we went to check out, he said that we had fabricated all this and that the damage did not occur in HIS hotel. Needless to say the Carabinieri were called by the owner. Their advise to us was to register an official complaint at the Police station. The complaint would implicate a court case where my friend would have to return to Italy at a future date. Needless to say, my friend did not register a complaint. The trip back to Italy would be more expensive than the iPhone. One wonders if this is not the first time this middle aged obnoxious owner/operator has done it to others knowing that the clients won´t came back. As our fourth time in Italy, we have reservations about returning to Italy. Not because we do not like Italy, but because we feel unprotected as tourists if anything happens in regards to the hospitality industry. Where else can one register a complaint to and get results? We did not use the pool, WIFI is available at a cost in the rooms. Free in reception only. Very slow. During this trip we have stayed at **** star hotels and this is NOT one of them. Hoping that our opinion helps others as we advised the owner that we would give him an unfavourable review. He didn´t seem to care.
This hotel has a really nice view and a big pool and is worth all the Money. Breakfast is super. Dont eat there in the evening - Dolphin and Marina are nearby restaurants with very good value. They should fire the angry man in the reception, but the russioan woman in the reception is very nice. Rhey should buy some paintings and hang them in all rooms. But all in all a very nice experience.
Arrived in the Bay Palace after a wonderful stay in Savoca. The hotel is not 4 star maybe a 3 star.A bit to far away from Taormina and a bit of a walk to the cable car along a very busy road. The rooms were cleaned every day but could do with a little refurbishment. Breakfast was ok with a fantastic view of the bay from the terrace. I dont think i would go back there again as it is alittle bit out of the way
I’ve noted other reviewers’ comments . I’ve not been in a hotel that will not accept payment by credit card in more than the last thirty years in any other country that I have visited. Also note that there is a city tax of 2 euro per person per night for guests staying in the hotel. Before going to the hotel, which by the way has no phone or fax number on its web site, I sent two emails in Italian requesting a room with a sea view. Neither was answered and we were put into a pokey, box room which smelt peculiar and had a view directly into the room opposite and the brick wall about five metres away. The reception staff were grumpy and unhelpful and the gaffer came round to us too, telling us to turn off the terrace light. The view from the hotel is magnificent, the pool area lovely, breakfast fine, Taormina is delightful . Pity about the negatives which spoilt an otherwise pleasant stay.
This is not a four-star and you will be disapointed if you have that expectation! We were met by a sour man in the reception. Our room was facing another balcony towards a wall. The whole hotel smell of insect spray. Most of the furniture were falling apart. The toilet were broken and there were mold in the shower. The pool had is glory days in the 80s. The breakfast was ok and typical italian. The lady in the reception was nice but you could feel that she was a bit ashame of the place. In the village the hotel was mentioned as 3 star but the hotel said 4 star. As soon as you entered the parking you could feel that that was not the case. I would rate this hotel as a weak 3 star hotel. My recomendation- book another hotel if you are looking for a 3 or 4 star.
Nice nature view, very good location, kind staff. The rooms needs renovation. Nice nature view, very good location, kind staff. The rooms needs renovation. Nice nature view, very good location, kind staff. The rooms needs renovation.
