As you'd expect from the name, the service is exceptional - though sometimes daunting when you walk into the entrance & there's 5-6 staff waiting to greet you! I stayed here with my girlfriend who was presenting at a client seminar & the facilities they had were great & the mgmt were very helpful to me when trying to transfer one of her presentations & print it out. Room is what you'd expect from a high end establishment & the buffet selection at the restaurant was more than adequate to keep me happy. The service there is also top notch. The pools are a bit 'boring', in that they're just rectangles & more thought could've gone into some landscaping/pool design to make them a bit more special. Also, quite a weird feature is that you have to walk through a smoking room from reception to access the hotel room block behind it. For a non-smoker, you'll gag at this & wonder why such a classy hotel would've set it up this way, when you're still in first impression mode? Anyway, overall - great service & what you'd expect from a Raffles.
Everything you would expect from a Raffles hotel. Classic yet homely and excellent attention to detail. Staff very accommodating and the Elephant bar was amazing. Expensive in comparison but worth it.
Me and my husband recieved a warm welcome from the staff at Raffles Le Royal, and after a long road journey, a cool welcome drink was very much appreciated. Our room was a small sized double room, but we were only there for a few nights anyway. The bed was large and comfortable, and the view of the area was nice. The elephant bar is a must go, as the drinks and snacks are amazing. They have a pool table in there, good to pass the time if you get on there before any Americans:-) The hotel is close by to the riverside, and only a short tuc-tuc ride away ($3 each way). The breakfast is alright, the coffee is strong, but I'd recommend passing on the english breakfast tea (it's never going to taste like back home, so don't bother). But the fresh juices are really good.
This hotel was wonderful, the service was impeccable and the view was wonderful! The breakfast was great! We enjoyed the area as well. The lunch and dinner in the restaurant was excellent. We also had dinner at a local restaurant and walked through the neighboring areas , we felt comfortable and safe throughout our visit.
A great hotel in a great city! Our visit to the Raffles Hotel Le Royal could not have been better. The hotel itself retains all of its old world style and charm combined with exceptional service and modern amenities. We felt like we were transported back to colonial times, and couldn't have been happier! We were upgraded to an amazing suite complete with butler service. Morning tea and coffee service was impeccable, and the perfect way to start the day. The breakfast buffet was vast and delicious. The array of hot and cold foods, the variety of choices included Western and Asian specialties (which changed daily) and the fresh fruit was all delicious. The hotel is in a great location to see the sites of Phnom Penh and is convenient to shopping as well as the riverfront restaurants. It was a short and very inexpensive tuk tuk ride to anywhere in town. The pool and gym were first class and the Elephant Bar (and the Singapore Slings served there!) was a fun and lively place to start (or end) an evening out. Phnom Penh is a much overlooked tourist destination (at least for those from the States). Given Cambodia's unfortunate recent past, most Americans seem to only consider visiting the temples at Angkor Wat in Siem Reap when traveling in this part of the world. But Phnom Penh is an important place to visit to fullly appreciate the whole Cambodia story, and it has a first class hotel to serve as host and base of operations. We will definitely be back to Raffles Le Royal Hotel to visit again.
My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights, and wished we were staying longer. Wonderful staff, lovely room, excellent service, and beautiful colonial building. I used the gym each day which was very well equipped and kept scrupulously clean. We were greeted at the entrance each day, after returning from a tour or whatever, by name, and with our room key presented to us. Breakfast was lovely, and the staff in the breakfast room were excellent. Our only negative was that we didn't know about the Elephant Bar until we were checking out! Hopefully we will return to Raffles one day and visit the Bar then.
Solid service and gorgeous hotel. The room was simple, had comfortable bed, smallish bathroom, but beautiful view from the balcony (be careful, many insects on balcony!). We took a swim - very nice pool with great poolside services. The French restaurant at the hotel was excellent. Great service and tasty food. Breakfast buffet excellent at the hotel ground floor restaurant. We also had lunch off of their a la carte menu. Was very impressive. The hotel concierge arranged a car to take us around town and also to Siem Reap. The driver was was impressive, we asked Raffles Phnom Penh to arrange the same driver to pick us up from Siem Reap to bring us to the airport. I would consider going back to Phnom Penh for a weekend trip just to relax at this hotel.
I stayed at the Le Royal for 5 nights for business. In line with many of the other reviewers, I agree the hotel is superb, the staff are some of the best I have encountered in any 5-star property. They are helpful, courteous and punctual with their service. I stayed in a 'state room' facing the pool (I requested a quiet room) and it was perfect for work and sleep. There are plugs either side of the bed, so when I preferred to work in bed I could keep my laptop charged. The bathroom, is styled in a typical colonial way - white tile, old style taps etc, which I liked very much. A little detail that I found exceptional where the vignettes of Cambodia by travel writers etc left on my pillow at each turn down service. The gym is compact with a good selection of free weights, the sauna / steam rooms were also a bonus, the swimming pools for adults and children are of a good size. The breakfast was faultless in terms of food quality and selection, and the wireless internet was fast. My only criticism is that the hotel does not seem to enforce dress codes, I used the Elephant Bar on three nights (for happy hour) and dressed as instructed - collared shirt, trousers and shoes etc, but was surprised to see men wearing shorts, t-shirts and flip-flops .... The management needs to decide to either drop the dress code or enforce it rigorously. Personally, I would prefer to see less of the ubiquitous flip-flop .... Overall, the hotel provides a balance of history, quality, service and value. I hope to return.
