This is an older property, and especially the elevators seemed dark and shabby. But the king bed was very comfortable and the price was low. The basic breakfast was included. The property is out of downtown on the highway with several others, but we had trouble locating a decent hotel there - until later! Be sure to eat at The Spot (walking distance) Travelled as a (mature age Australian) couple for five weeks around East Coast USA. Generally did not book ahead, prefer to have freedom to linger as we please, and to actually see the room before we commit. Have travelled this way many times before in USA and Europe. Stayed at a variety of hotels and B+Bs from 3 to 5 star. In busy areas (Quebec City, NYC) we booked in advance from Tripadviser reviews or similar websites.
This is a very well run hotel. The front desk staff was very gracious and knowledgeable. The room had the most comfortable bed with pillow top and their own designed white comforters with both soft and firm pillows. I even tried to buy one of the comforters as they were so perfect for a good night sleep. Not to warm or cool. The front lobby was really nice and the breakfast area large and had everything you would want for breakfast. The two ladies running the breakfast area were kind and friendly.
What a nice surprise -- on our way to Binghamton a friend suggested we try the Comfort Inn. We have had such inconsistent luck with this chain that we would not have gone there without the friend's prompting. She was right. The room was fine-- clean, comfortable and pleasant. Especially liked the extra little bank of outlets next to the bed and the super good WiFi! Breakfast was fine and the ladies staffing it were super nice!
We stayed at the Comfort Inn for 2 nights to attend a dog obedience trial and the hotel and staff was great. Our Newf Max was fussed over by the front deck and packs of dog cookies and poop bags were handed out at the front desk as well as cookies for us. The pet charge and small fee for a microwave and mini-fridge in our room was minimal. The rooms were very clean, AC worked great and the free breakfast was extensive. Would stay here again.
Our stay here was great! We booked in another hotel in town which was pretty awful and walked out so we really needed to find a place quickly and tried here. John at reception could not have been more helpful and got us a great room, he and the other staff could not have done more for us. Nice pool, good continental breakfast etc. Just a good place to stay and easy access to restaurants and the highway.
We stayed in this hotel on our way to Florida and on our way back from Florida in March 2013. The hotel was clean and the service was friendly. The price was reasonable and the location was convenient for getting in an out of Binghamton.
The Binghamton area does not have a wide variety of hotels from which to choose. There are a few cheap, shabby motels, < $50-$60. There are some moderately priced hotels around $100. There are a few hotels > $150. I chose the Comfort Inn because of the moderate price and, as a chain hotel, they are reliable in cleanliness and amenities in my experience. The room rate for a no smoking king for 1 person was $109. but I requested a corporate rate and received a discount of $98. per night. The Comfort Inn is located generally between Binghamton Regional Airport and the city of Binghamton/Johnson City (20 minute drive from airport). It was easy to find and a good choice for the Tri-Cities. I felt more secure in this area than a downtown location. There were several places nearby to eat or have a cocktail including Applebee's. A restaurant called "The Spot" had great food and service. Casey's Cantina has a fun pub atmosphere and menu. I was very satisfied with the Comfort Inn. The staff at the hotel were very friendly and accommodating. There is a spacious, inviting lobby area. Beyond a central "living room" area, you can see the cafe area for the complimentary breakfast. There was a good selection of breakfast items including, scrambled eggs, sausage, large waffles made to order, fresh breads, several cereal choices and beverages. Available until 10am. Serving staff were welcoming and friendly. The room was very nice and clean with a coffee maker. Nice bathroom, comfortable bed and bedding, clean carpeting and a flat panel TV. Although I would have liked to have a small room refrigerator, there was a nearby pop machine with bottled water. I will definitely stay here again when I visit the area. Good value for the cost!
Upon arrival, after checking in with a very grumpy person who called herself the manager, and paying $125.00 on a weeknight, we entered through the side door. We did not need a key card to enter the side door, nor did we need a key card all they way up to and through the second floor entrance except to enter our room. The entire hotel smelled musty. The beds were horrible. The only nice thing about the place were the personnel that worked at the breakfast station. They were very hospitable. The management was very rude, and treated us as though they were begrudgingly giving us the last of what they had to accommodate us!
With my husband’s run from Owega to Binghamton (during his run around the world), we checked in at the Comfort Inn on the 10th October. There was some kind of convention in town so we were fortunate to get one of the last rooms. The check-inn process was speedy and all the staff were very friendly. The room smelt a little odd so I had to keep a scented candle burning for a while. There was a flat screen television but not all the rooms have a fridge or microwave. However, on request, these were delivered at no extra charge. Our room was nothing flash but it was clean and fairly quiet. The bathroom was very small & there were only just enough towels. The breakfast area was managed by two delightful ladies who were cooking waffles for guests on request (I did notice a tip jar on the bench). There was the usual selection of hot breakfast, if you like that sort of thing. They had a variety of nice teas to choose from which appealed to me. Would recommend a stopover at the Comfort Inn if you were passing through Binghamton.
I wrote a review on this hotel two years ago and gave it the same three star rating, but had more negative to say than good. I'm happy to say some improvements have been made that give me more positive things to say this time around. First off, the staff (Bambi in particular) were very helpful and friendly. Room was much cleaner and less worn looking this time around. Due to a full hotel, we were asked to take a pet friendly room, even though we had no pets. We agreed, and I am happy to report the room was spotless. You would never know animals had ever stayed in this same room. We did experience a noise issue with our "next door neighbors", which the staff took care of immediately. My only complaint is that this is a smoking hotel, and the smell of smoke was present in the hallways and the non-smoking rooms. Other than that, we had a great stay.
