Booked Apt 209 through Friendly Rentals so we were not part of the 'Aparthotel' which we had not realised when booking. We are a mature couple who visit Sitges each year so we knew the location was excellent for us. The entrance to the complex which is very large is typical large hotel and does not give off a friendly atmosphere. Our apartment was not quite up to standard. Our kitchen was poorly equipped with a very odd mixture of glassware, utensils and crockery. Bathroom light flickered (faulty electrics?), hall lights did not work and handle fell off the front door during our stay. The positive was the one bed flat was spacious, clean, beds were comfortable and it had a decent sized balcony with plenty of space for a table and sunbed. It was also quiet at night even though our flat overlooked the road. With a little care and attention to detail this apartment could have been excellent for us.
First, this is an "apartment/hotel", which can be good ... or bad. The good: the location is simply spectacular, all the 1-bedroom "suites" are relatively spacious (with a complete kitchen, including a full-size refrigerator, microwave, dish ware, etc.), and all (I think) rooms include a liberal terrace seating 4 overlooking the beach and the Mediterranean. The air conditioning is more than sufficient, and TV's (1 flat screen) are featured in both the living room and the bedroom, the bathrooms are more than adequate, and a large, grass-surrounded in-ground pool - seldom used - anchors a large central courtyard. Nice bones through-out, but the Mediterraneo is now getting VERY dated, and is in dire need of a cosmetic facelift. And don't expect 4- or 5-star hotel services. No room service (but who needs it with Cafe Picnic just across the avenue on the beach), and housekeeping services, though daily, are just marginal - tiny soaps, body lotions, and towel replacements are, at best, well, skimpy and episodic. But Sitges IS a beach village, generally laid back, and surely one of the most scenic, fun, socially active and accepting towns on the entire Spanish coast with welcoming beaches, an abundance of good restaurants, festivals, and other sights. Camping out at the Sitges Mediterreneo isn't a bad way to fully enjoy it. I'd return again!
I spent only one night at the Mediterraneo when I had to change my plans at the last minute due to illness. The concierge very kindly allowed me to check in early and to leave late the following day, which I infinitely appreciate. The room was perfectly clean (though with overly pastel decor) and the bed was fairly comfortable. The pool area was really clean and nice and very spacious, if you'd rather sit on grass than the sand of the beach across the street. Good wifi strength in my room. Over all, a good experience.
Sitges is a lovely, tolerant, upmarket resort. But it's pricey for Spain so accom can be seriously overpriced. Our 3 night stay was a very good overall deal: For £46 pppn we got: Great seafront location, a compact 1 bed apartment, 2 tvs, balcony, sea view, free wifi, pools etc. Having a kitchen, however basic, is a real bonus. In Sitges you can pay more for just a cramped room in the town. Of course there are issues but I balanced these against the postives. ISSUES: Rooms need to be cleaned better. Beds need to be replaced & upgraded. Toiletries are very basic. BUT staff are helpful. OVERALL - Yes! I would recommend this place. TIPS: Authentic Catalan restaurant with locals (at locals prices) Restaurant Can Gregorio, on Passeig Vilanova near the big cycle shop (3 course lunch with wine). Also, Restaurant Can Porta (Passeig Vilafranca 1). Tables outside, 3 course&wine quite cheap.
I had to think long and hard before giving the overall rating and in fact, in my opinion is fair considering that I found very little about this hotel/Apartment to praise. The welcome was non-exist ant and very little information given about the Hotel come apartments. The rooms were dirty, many basic maintenance issues I.e light fitting that kept falling down, the warped wooden door that had to be slammed shut and the extremely poor spongy beds. (This, by the way was the worst bed I had ever slept on!) The outside plastic patio furniture had been painted and even in the plant pots discarded drinks glasses were left, from All in all at €145 per night this was definitely not value for money. I've stayed in Sitges many times and would never go back to this accommodation. The Hotel Photos must have been taken the day it opened, Circa 1970,as you would struggle, to recognise the place. The Hotel needs a serious amount of money spending on it and a team of quality cleaners. Wasn't asked if we had enjoyed our stay when settling the bill, though to be honest I was glad, as I could not tell a lie!!
We loved our stay at Mediterraneo (eventually), we were there for 17 days August 2013. Bad stuff first: do not accept a room beside, above or below apartment 303. The apartment is privately owned and the owner has a dog that barks ALL NIGHT! Argh! We kicked off with the management and they changed our room the same night despite it being August peak season. We also met the owner who said it was our fault for being too noisy and waking the dog up! Also, the room and apartment sizes are wildly different for the same price, especially the double rooms. Ours was tiny, but we talked to the cleaners and they showed us the one beside us and it was twice the size. Again, when we complained they gave us a much bigger room for the same price. Apart from that, we loved the hotel. Ask for a room high up facing the pool/sea but NOT the road. And if booking a double room and the apartment seems small, talk to the cleaners and ask if there are bigger ones.
I have been here several times and I love the view and location. The apartments have kitchen so it is easy to have breakfast or snacks on the balcony. No need for a breakfast room. The swimming pools are big and the crowd very mixed like everywhere in Sitges. Only problem is that service is minimum: cleaning of the room is super speedy and I find that pillows stinks. For that kind of price, one can expect more attention to such details.
Located at 20 meters from an excellent sandy beach, on the avenue where are all the restaurants and small shops and close to the center, this hotel is everything you need for a nice comfy holiday. This hotel is clean and with all facilities you need.Apparently all rooms have a sea view. The hotel has a large pool but we did not use it because it was still cold outside.
