This is a perfectly decent hotel at the upper end of my experiences of Accor hotels. The staff are friendly and helpful and the food has aspirations to gourmet that are not always delectable but generally good and above average. Express check in is a godsend. Rooms are very clean if a little small the beds are very comfortable and even the basic un modernised rooms are perfectly good, no need to pay the extra £20 for modernised rooms. The gym is very small and can get crowded. The pool is lovely to have but not enormous, everywhere there, in showers etc is clean. I would recommend this hotel.
This is a very well appointed hotel with friendly competent staff that take care to accommodate there guest well, the hotel facilities are clean and well appointed as are the rooms I would definitely recommend this hotel to friends and family alike.
Check in was good, ( dropped wife off to do this while I parked ! ), Reception staff excellent, very helpful. Room was great, though a bit small, bit all as expected. Shower was great, room very clean generally. Breakfast was superb, good quality food and service was again as it should be in a four star hotel. Only negative really was that the service in the bar could be slow, bar person was often away doing other roles but this minor and wouldn`t put us off from returning.
The check in was slow. I feel a 15 minute wait is totally unacceptable only one member of staff checking people in. Went to the hotel restaurant to be told there would be an hour & a half wait, with my wife pregnant we decided to go back to the room and order room service. Trying to order room service was the most painful experience of my life. With my pregnant wife passing the phone to me saying "I can't deal with this moron on reception" on a lighter note Ben from the bar was very pleasant.
Stayed here for two nights, attracted by the onsite parking ( a rarity in Exeter hotels ) and the swimming pool ( that we never got to use as we were too busy exploring Exeter!). Very nicely presented, check in was good. Helpful staff, Useful as we had to ring and ask directions once our Sat Nav had taken us to the wrong end of Southernhay, and I had got completely lost in the rabbit warren of one way streets that is the city centre - but great directions and patience from reception got us there. A few minor hiccups - we had to ask for the complimentary gift ( part of the package booked ) the paper didn't arrive the first day and the wifi signal was so weak in our top floor room the ipad couldn't get it, and a laptop only just held a connection. The rest was great, clean comfy room and bed. large shower ( no baths in Superior rooms) mini fridge, tea coffee etc iron, board. Breakfast was included in our package ( worked out as £10 each, over the room only price ) and was excellent and plentiful as a hot and cold buffet, as well as table orders for specials. The price on the day was listed as £15.50 which was a bit steep for breakfast in my view, so look out for inclusive rates. Parking was £10 a day, payable at reception. On check out it was OK to leave the car until later in the day, and go back in for a token to get out when ready - nice touch. Hotel is 5 mins from Cathedral Green and Princesshay shopping areas. Exeter is great, for shopping as well as sightseeing, and would make a good city break location. Yes, we'd stay again.
We stayed at this hotel mid August on a trip around Great Britain. Having booked on line and having researched fairly well we were pleased with our choice. Very good on site parking, very friendly staff and very central to the city centre. As we used this hotel as our base for a couple of nights we couldn't have made a better choice. We would heartily recommend this hotel to all travellers.
We have stayed in a number of hotels in Exeter over the last 10 years and have been disappointed but what a find this is! We were greeted by very friendly and professional receptionists on arrival and nothing was too much trouble during our two night stay! They went to a lot of trouble for us to check in early (not always possible). Our room was quite large with a great bathroom and storage space and a nice view. The food was first class along with the service. The great added value of this hotel is the location which is minutes away from cathedral and thriving shops and café culture. We could not recommend this hotel enough and it is certainly the best we have stayed in Exeter
This was a two night stay away from our business and we had asked specifically for a quiet room. The room we were given was at the front, over the car park and just a couple of metres from the main entrance - it is never going to be quiet. Because the hotel was full it was not possible (apparently) to move us. We did not have two good nights' sleep, possibly exacerbated by a tap that refused to stop dripping in the bathroom and a very hot room with an in-effective air handling system. Those are my only negative comments. The quality of the restaurant both at breakfast and evening dinner was absolutely first class, made especially memorable by our waitress, a lovely lady "Michaela" (I may have the spelling wrong). All staff from front of house to restaurant to health spa were The hotel location is perfect for exploring Exeter by foot, with the on-site parking a clear and added benefit although I suspect that it can become "overfull". Well worth the visit and we would stay again without hesitation.
Good central location very close to cathedral and Central Station (which despite its name isn't the main station - this is called St David's). Friendly and welcoming staff. Beautifully furnished rooms with contemporary fittings and very comfy beds. Although the common areas (corridors etc.) look a bit 'down at heel', and the doors at the top of the stairs were somewhat grubby. Particulary the paintwork felt sticky to the touch and should be wiped down thoroughly every day. Whilst we were there there was a 24 hour charity marathon in aid of the British Heart Foundation taking place on running machines in the lobby, which was a nice touch. This is a good hotel at which to spend a few days exploring this lovely old city, as well as a base for visits to places such as Exmouth and Torbay.
